DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TRAVEL THE EXTRA MILEAGE TO ERLANGER! You're wasting your time and money going to Rhea Medical.
I went to the hospital emergency room via ambulance with a dislocated leg. Despite being cleary visible that my leg was a good inch and a half outta place . Dr Sego said "well its not broke go to a orthopedic surgeon" even after arguing and begging to have it fixed, he left the room sending in the nurse with discharge papers. Go to any other hospital and not Rhea medical.
Lets see, where should I even start with this place? I'll start on June 12th, 2015, I was in a car accident. I won't bore you with that part though, I was taken by an ambulance that was as bad as this hospital honestly, but that's another story for another review. Anyhow, once I got to the hospital if that's what we are even calling this place, I was taken to a room, where they asked what happened, I told them all the details and how I knew id done something bad to my back, it hurt like I had never in my life ever felt before, I knew I more than likely broke something back there. An hour later I was taken for an xray and a cat scan, they wheeled my bed back to those rooms and MADE ME SCOOT MYSELF across both beds to the xray bed, back to my bed, then to the cat scan we go, where yet again THEY MADE ME SCOOT MYSELF over to the cat scan bed and back to my bed, all while screaming and crying in pain how bad it hurt and was told sorry they didn't say you needed help to get on the other beds, you'll have to do it yourself. Also I was denied anything to help try and relieve some of the pain until Erlanger called to transfer me they had told them to give me something to help with the transfer. Then I had to go to the bathroom to which the nurse told me to go ahead and go, MY MOTHER HELPED ME TO THE BATHROOM, not a nurse. Then the dr comes in to tell me what I already knew, I had completely shattered my T12, L1 and L2 vertebrae, (that's not how he put it, he just said he had seen something broken) then he proceeded to say it was an old injury and was going to send me home! My husband and the doctor got into an argument about that to which the dr continued to say I was lying and it was an old injury. Blah blah. Pretty sure I'd notice if my back was broke
I don't live in Dayton I am out of state , so I can't take care of him like I would like too. .. His last visit they gave him a shot he was allergic too , the nurse showed little if any compassion ,as a former nurse this makes me so upset , our healthcare system is in trouble with nurses like this working for a pay Check , I am not speaking for all of them but if the shoe fits wear it.
(No other dr was available supposedly that evening)
It seems that each time my brother comes here , its a total waste of time , he was in pain he has Congestive heart failure he was been accused of doctor shopping , it pissed me off royally ...
Another story, my son did something while playing which led to his foot swelling up more than double the size, it left a huge sore on top of his foot, bigger than a quarter, and the same dr tells me it's a bug bite. Really?! A bug bite?! Still not sure what the big sore was, but it turned into infintigo because he wasn't given any medicine for his "bug bite"..
I did have problems here but I have way more good experiences here than bad. The staff is nice the place is clean I’ve been here many times. Some people give hospitals bad reviews because of one incident but if you go here as many times as I been it’s a good place
Its always a waste to go here ," the next time he's sick I am just going to tell him to stay home till he can find away to erlanger Medical Center .
Hands down BEST Emergency room I've ever been too. Had a dirt bike accident so I visited there tonight, the nurses were all very friendly, done everything they could to make me comfortable while waiting on tests & scans to come back. Dr was great also. Would recommend to anyone & will definitely be going back in the future!
I know if my brother could have found a way to Erlanger the result of his visit would have been different . The problem is Rhea County Medical doesn't have the equipment to do any type of Gastrointestinal examination to check for any abnormalities in the abdominal area..
They do ok with things they can treat ," but other than that its pretty sad when you need further medical attention they aren't able to see, it pains me that anyone who lives in Rhea County have to rely on medical treatment such as this , with no other alternative option.
