Was excited that our town got a Steak n Shake because I have had great food at all of the other ones I have dined. But, unfortunately this one, so far, is not up to par. My burger and fries were cold and not a big selection on their menu as with other Steak n Shake franchises.
Steak and Shake in Dayton TN? Oh yes! And not just any Steak and Shake either. This location offers a unique experience. It is set up with a drive through outside and drink fountain inside. I've always wished for a Steak and Shake that has the 'faster' food options in addition to a good dine-in experience. It will trump McDonald's for me every time. Food every bit as good as the Chattanooga locations with the small town atmosphere to boot!
Order was quick to come out, but I feel they lack on fries. It may just be the way other Steak and Shakes do it with the display of fries on a plate, but these were in a cup along with my chicken fingers and it just didn't seem like a lot of fries. Also they don't give you a tray you can eat off of, so unless you get a hamburger with a wrapper, you can't roll your fries around in ketchup, you'd have to get their little cups and dip like 2 or 3 fries at a time. Their trays are like giant rectangle bowls, maybe if it had a paper cover on it I would feel comfortable eating off of it, but even then for two orders we only got one tray with our food in cups.
Nice place. Ordered a shake and burger, paid $10. Got food after a 15 minute wait to see a hair on my tray. Wasn't touching food but still. Began to eat. Fries were okay. Burger wasn't up to par. Tasted fine for fast food but it looked like it had very little effort put in. Overall I won't be here again. It wasn't worth is, and for about the same price I could go next door to Carrabelle's and get a bayou burger with more fries and a much better burger. Sorry steak and shake, Im disappointed.
Only burgers fries & shake no 5 star chili over spagetti noodles that they're famous for . Sucks
I like the idea of a self serve like other fast food chains, Steak and Shake has always been cheap, but after tipping it would come out to more than if I had just gone to another fast food place.
